Broadwind Energy swung to a loss in the third quarter due to “significantly weaker” results in its core structural towers business as wind customers reduced purchases while they drew down component inventories.

The company posted a net loss from continuing operations of $2.05m, or 14 cents per share, versus a net profit of $1.2m, or eight cents per share, a year earlier.
