Chinese wind group Goldwind confirmed the growing significance of its offshore wind business as its posted sharply higher third-quarter profits.

China’s largest wind OEM ended September with orders for 52MW of its 6.45MW and 6.7MW turbines, and unsigned contracts for a further 122.5MW of 6.45MW machines.

In a market update released to accompany its July to September financials, Goldwind International said Chinese offshore wind is set to follow the “considerable momentum” seen in Europe.
