Iran underway with 100MW wind farm

Iranian industrial group Mapna has opened the first phase of a 100MW wind farm it will build in the country.

Mapna has installed seven of its own 2.5MW turbines at the site in Kahak, Qazvin province, with three already commissioned.

The company hopes to complete the project within two years.

Tehran-based Mapna – which has interests spanning thermal generation, oil & gas and rail, as well as renewables – has a total of 750MW of wind planned in Iran, according to its website.

The company said it is on course to install Iran’s first 3.2MW turbines soon.

According to the Tehran Times, the Iranian government will is poised to sign deals with private sector players over the construction and operation of a trio of 350MW wind farms it wants built.
