The US House of Representatives may propose undoing key elements of the wind production tax credit (PTC) in the days ahead, warns Tom Kiernan, chief executive of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), but the industry can still count on the more pro-wind Senate to act as a firewall.

Separately, Kiernan predicts that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will say no to Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s request that subsidies quickly be put in place for ailing coal and nuclear plants in competitive power markets – though the issue likely won’t go away any time soon.
