The wind industry in an open letter signed by 18 of Europe’s largest renewables companies and three wind power associations called upon the Council of the European Union not to waver in its commitment to 2030 energy and climate goals in the context of the European Commission’s Clean Energy Package.
A robust and reliable governance framework is central to sustaining the strong wind energy industrial base in Europe and the pace of cost reduction, the signatories say, adding that they had been expecting the new governance mechanism to provide clarity and certainty to investors on renewables development in European markets comparable to the 2020 regime.
