Certification body TÜV SÜD has given its seal of approval to the project design of the 600MW Gemini wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.

The quality-check, which includes the project's two substations, builds on the company's earlier assessment of the development's 150 monopiles and tower connection structures.

"For us, this [contract] confirms our position as one of the world's leading certification companies for onshore and offshore wind turbines and wind farms," says Ulrich Knopf, project manager at the Offshore Wind Energy department of TÜV SÜD Industrie Service.

"The excellent cooperation between the designer, the general contractor and Gemini was one of the essential requirements for the successful realisation of the two contracts."

Certification of Gemini, located 85km off the coast of Groningen in the Dutch exclusive economic zone, reviewed design documentation and the project's  geotechnical report.
