Wind resource assessment will take place in Malawi over the next year following the installation of two met masts in the southeast African nation.

SgurrEnergy installed the 70-metre masts for the Wind Energy Preparation Programme (WEPP), part of the larger Malawi Renewable Energy Acceleration Programme (MREAP).

A satellite communication system will feed the data back to SgurrEnergy's team in Glasgow, Scotland, where detailed analysis will reveal the wind conditions on site over the next 12 months.

Further stages of the WEPP project include detailed feasibility study work and capacity building.

SgurrEnergy has been working on the WEPP programme since early 2012 in Malawi, a country of about 16 million bordering Mozambique.
