EDF places 450MW Vestas order

EDF Renewable Energy says it confirms a 450MW order with Vestas for 225 V110-2MW wind turbines for projects in the US states of New Mexico and Kansas, which the vendor had announced on Monday.

The order is part of a Master Supply Agreement (MSA) for up to 750MW announced by the two companies last  September.

“The projects have long-term power purchase agreements in place with creditworthy counterparties, and will create new construction and long-term operations jobs in the local communities,” says Ryan Pfaff, executive vice president of EDF Renewable Energy.

EDF is among Vestas’ largest wind turbine customers in North America.

Chris Brown, president of Vestas’ sales and service division in the United States and Canada, says the order is the first from EDF for the V110-2MW machine.

“It’s a privilege for Vestas to continue working with a leading global energy company such as EDF Renewable Energy,” he says.
