Senvion and China's CRRC in generator deal for 3.7M144
Germany-based OEM Senvion and China’s CRRC Zhuzhou Electric, a unit of the CRRC Group, have signed a framework contract for the delivery of generators for Senvion’s 3.XM wind turbine series.
The agreement, unveiled during the China Windpower fair in Beijing, foresees that CRRC will provide at least half of the generators for Senvion’s 3.7M144 machine, or at least 100 units in the next three years.
“As one of the major wind industry players worldwide, efficient purchasing deals that create scale effects whilst ensuring highest quality are strategically crucial steps towards a more optimised technology,” said Senvion chief executive Jürgen Geissinger.
The OEM adds that the strategic cooperation with CRRC will contribute to its goal of achieving the best levelised cost of energy (LCOE) at highest quality standards for its turbines.
Zhou Junjun, president at CRRC Zhuzhou Electric, said the company is among the largest serving the wind generator market in China. “Following Senvion's global footprint, we aim to become Senvion's strategic cooperation partner for existing and new markets."
