Hexcel Corp. has reached terms with turbine OEM Vestas to expand its existing agreement to provide advanced composite materials for new-generation wind blades.

Hexcel, based in Stamford, Connecticut, did not release terms of the deal that will involve supply of advanced prepreg (glass fiber-reinforced resin systems) manufactured at its plants in Neumark, Austria; Windsor, Colorado; and Tianjin, China.

Hexcel says it has developed a new prepreg system specifically to meet the requirements for large thick structures such as wind blades.
