The incoming Dutch four-party government of Prime Minister Mark Rutte as part of a long-awaited coalition agreement plans to increase offshore wind power, as well as introduce a 49% CO2 emission reduction target by 2030 that will require a fast expansion of renewable energy in general.

“We widen the offer of cables [grid links] for wind energy at sea,” the coalition accord between Rutte’s centre-right People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), two other centrist and one left-liberal party reads.
