Brazil’s wind power sector is entering the era of customised O&M, as guarantees from OEMs reach expiry and strong wind conditions take their toll on the 5,000 strong fleet already operating.

“These machines were designed for European winds. Brazilians need to apply specific maintenance conditions since they were designed to operate for 20 years at lower wind speeds and winds that are not so constant,” said Adão Linhares, president of Delfos Intelligent Maintenance, a wind consulting firm.
