India saw another sharp drop in wind tariffs to 2.64 rupees/kWh ($0.04kWh) after its second 1GW national auction, the country’s government announced as it claimed it is on track to beat its ambitious 2022 renewable energy targets.

The 2.64 rupees figure in this week’s auction marks a fall from the 3.46 rupees/kWh figure seen in India’s first central government-run tender held in February – which itself represented a cut of up to 30% on the feed-in tariff rates that previously drove the market.
