The Welsh government has announced new targets for energy generation in Wales which aims to see some 70% of the country’s power coming from renewable sources by 2030.

Lesley Griffiths, the cabinet secretary for the environment, told the Welsh parliament that electricity generation from renewable sources in Wales had trebled since 2010.

Griffiths said she was also setting a target for 1GW of renewable electricity capacity in Wales to be locally owned by 2030.
