Wind could supply 30% of Europe’s power from a fleet of 323GW by 2030 if favourable policy decisions and “significant changes to the energy system” allow it to fulfil its “enormous growth potential”, said WindEurope.

The central scenario in the trade body’s latest Scenarios for 2030 report says “greater certainty on long-term revenue stability; significant progress on the system integration of variable renewables including build-out of the grid and interconnectors; and clear policy commitments on electrification” are needed to underpin the growth of an industry that could attract €239bn ($282bn) of investments by the end of the next decade.
