EDF Energy Renewables has installed the world’s largest wind turbine, an 8.3MW model from MHI Vestas, at its 41.5MW Blyth offshore demonstrator project off the northeast coast of the UK.

The giant V164-8.3MW is the first of five being deployed on innovative gravity base foundations (GBFs) at the project, which once on line will generate enough energy to supply 34,000 households.
