General Motors is buying 200MW of wind energy to power manufacturing facilities in Indiana and Ohio – the largest combined renewables purchase deal to date by an automaker in the US.
GM agreed to buy 100MW of capacity from the 175-200MW HillTopper project that developer Swift Current Energy expects to have in commercial operation in fourth quarter 2018. It will also purchase the full 100MW capacity from Starwood Energy’s Northwest Ohio facility.
