Industry analyst BMI Research has raised its wind growth forecast for the UK following the results of contracts-for-difference (CfDs) awarded under the second allocation round in the country, which registered a “substantial cost deflation” for offshore projects.

“Prior to the auction, we forecasted the sector to expand by an annual average of 2.7% between 2021 and 2026, in large part due to limited visibility into project development,” said global consultancy BMI Research in a note.
