Avangrid breaks ground at 202MW Apple-backed project

Avangrid Renewables, the independent renewables generation arm of Iberdrola’s US utility Avangrid, has broken ground at its 13 ^th wind project in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge, with the 202MW Montague wind farm set to sell its power to Apple over 20 years.

The blockbuster power-purchase agreement with Apple was announced earlier this year, and builds on Oregon-based Avangrid Renewables’ growing success in the corporate renewables PPA market, where it already has deals in place with Amazon and Nike.
