The wind industry wants the UK government to rapidly advance further auctions after the award of 3.2GW of projects under the country’s second contract-for-difference (CfD) allocation round saw sharply lower power costs.

“The auction results show that offshore wind has aggressively reduced its costs, embracing the challenges set by government,” said Keith Anderson, chief executive of Iberdrola-owned ScottishPower Renewables, one of the biggest developers active in the UK.
