Successful developers today hailed the dramatic offshore wind costs reductions that drove their winning bids in a UK auction round that will see France’s Engie make its debut in UK offshore wind and Dong Energy take the sector to yet another scale.

Dong’s Hornsea 2 with 1.39GW is set to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm when it enters service in 2022 89km off the coast of Yorkshire, eastern England, beating the Danish developer’s neighbouring Hornsea 1 at 1.2GW.
