The Dutch province of Groningen has urged the Netherlands' minister of economic affairs to consider wind farm development in a new area north of the Wadden Islands, which it believes has at least 10GW of offshore wind potential.
A research report by Blix Consultancy, commissioned by the province, found there are “excellent” wind farm conditions in the area around 65km to the north of the Wadden Islands in the Dutch North Sea.
