When Fortum and Skellefteå Kraft on Thursday inaugurate the final phase of the 248MW Blaiken wind park in northern Sweden, it will not only mark the official start of one of Europe’s largest onshore projects but also one of the biggest successes yet for a Chinese turbine manufacturer on the continent.

While German manufacturer Nordex had supplied turbines for the 150MW first two phases of Blaiken to the Finnish and Swedish utilities, they chose Chinese OEM Dongfang Electric Corp.
