The Brazilian unit of GE Renewable Energy is almost ready to roll out a wind-solar hybrid product suitable for local tenders which could increase the overall output of projects and offer a continued 24-hour power supply by combining the two technologies.
Known as WiSE, the new product uses GE developed solar-wind inverters and shares the same electric and transmission infrastructure for both technologies, which also reduces construction costs, says Rosana Santos, GE Renewable Energy product and marketing leader for Latin America.
