More than 40% of workers’ councillors expect the wind turbine market to decline, expecting lay-offs in close to a quarter of companies in the sector, a survey among workers council members by the Bremen-based agency for structural and personal development (AgS) finds.
The poll had been commissioned by metal workers union IG Metall against the backdrop of recent announcements for plant closures across Germany, such as Senvion’s plan to shut down two onshore wind and one offshore blade plant in the country.
