French energy group Engie is moving ahead with plans to build and operate the Sainshand wind farm in Mongolia after it received a $120m financial support package from several international investors.

Engie will make its debut in Mongolia with the 55MW development that will comprise 25 2.2 Vestas turbines to be located in the Gobi desert.

The development of the Sainshand wind farm will be supported by German project developer Ferrostaal, Danish Climate Investment Fund (DCIF) and Mongolian entrepreneur, Radnaabazar Davaanyam, with long-term financing provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
