Sempra Energy, which owns a major California electric utility and a fast-growing portfolio of renewables assets, has reached agreement to pay $9.45bn in cash to acquire Oncor, the largest power transmission system and wind energy distributor in Texas.
The last-minute deal ((including debt, it has $18.8bn enterprise value) for bankrupt Energy Future Holdings Corp. (EFH) and its 80% ownership in strongly profitable Oncor, won support from Elliott Management Corp.,
