Second quarter 2017 profit surged at Danish utility Dong Energy due to higher earnings from the ramp-up of new offshore wind farms, and gains from the divestment of half of the Race Bank array off the UK.

Chief executive Henrik Poulsen during a results conference stressed the strategic importance of the growing US offshore wind market, and said that business is going so well that the company may in the future may reduce divestments in its offshore wind developments.
