The UK is set to host another offshore wind mega-project off its east coast as Iberdrola-owned ScottishPower Renewables received planning consent for the 1.2GW East Anglia 3 development.
The developer said the approval by UK energy secretary Greg Clark would enable the deployment of ‘next generation’ turbines at the site, with a tip height up to 247-metres.
The project, 69km off the Norfolk coast in eastern England, will need up to 172 turbines to achieve full capacity, said ScottishPower – making an average rating of at least 9.3MW.
