Allete Clean Energy (ACE), the competitive generation arm of Minnesota-based utility holding company Allete, announced it will repower 385 ageing turbines at three operating wind farms in the upper Midwest, highlighting the growing strength of the US repowering market.
ACE says it will spend $80m to replace the blades, gearboxes and generators at the 104MW Lake Benton wind farm in Minnesota and the 185MW Storm Lake I and II projects in Iowa.
