Wind OEM Nordex will extend the Hausbay-Bickenbach wind farm in southwest Germany, where the world’s tallest onshore turbine has been generating power for the past year.
Nordex in June 2016 installed the 3.3MW N131/3300 turbine, which has a hub height of 164 metres, flying 65.5-metre blades rotating out to reach a total height of 230 metres.
The German group said the unit produced more than 9GWh of electricity, “despite only light winds” and “scheduled measuring activities” that reduced availability.
