The first of five gravity base foundations (GBFs) for EDF Energy Renewables' pioneering Blyth offshore wind demonstration project has been successfully installed on the seabed off northeast England, the first time the specialist ‘float and submerge’ method has been used.

The second GBF has now arrived at the site ready for installation at the 41.5MW project, located 6.5km off the coast in water depths of 38 metres.
