A consortium of Japanese groups is buying a controlling stake in a 223MW Irish wind portfolio, citing the growing role of renewable power in Ireland’s expanding economy.

The consortium of Sojitz Corporation, Kepco and Mitsubishi UFJ (MUFJ) Lease & Finance Company has agreed to buy 60% of Cork-based developer Evalair via ShaMrock Wind, a London-based entity set up by the Japanese trio to invest in Irish wind power.
