US renewables developer Invenergy on Wednesday unveiled what could become the world’s second largest single-site wind farm by 2020, the 2,000MW Wind Catcher project in the Oklahoma panhandle, and handed the blockbuster 800-turbine contract to long-time supplier General Electric.

Coal-heavy utility American Electric Power (AEP) will buy the project upon its completion, the latest indication that traditional, large generators are moving toward cleaner energy sources and not looking to deepen their commitment to fossil fuels as President Donald Trump wants.
