The debate over the role of onshore wind in the UK’s future energy mix intensified further as the British government announced new clean-transport targets, while its environment secretary declined to rule out the need for more wind farms to supply growing demand from electric vehicles (EVs).
The UK government said it would ban new petrol and diesel cars from the road by 2040, mirroring a pledge already made by France, with only electric models entering service from that date.
