Mitsubishi-backed Diamond Transmission Partners (DTP) has been named as preferred bidder to run the transmission link to the UK’s 258MW Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm.

DTP, a consortium between the Japanese group and HICL Infrastructure Company, was picked by UK energy regulator Ofgem under its competitive offshore transmission owner (OFTO) system.

DTP will take on transmission assets worth about £181m ($235m) and operate them for the next 20 years after a tender that wraps up Round 4 of Ofgem's OFTO process.
