Germany grid-connected 626MW of new offshore wind during the first half of 2017 as two new arrays were completed in the North Sea, bringing the country's cumulative capacity to 4.7GW, figures from Deutsche WindGuard commissioned by five different wind groups show.

The fresh data came after 1.38GW out of 1.49GW allocated at the country’s first offshore wind tender in April was secured with zero subsidy bids, leading to calls from the industry to raise its 2030 offshore wind capacity target to at least 20GW and create a target if 30GW for 2035.
