The Department of Energy (DOE) will complete an assessment of the economic and technical feasibility of offshore wind and other renewable energy technologies in US federal waters in the Gulf of Mexico in 2019.

The study by DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will help the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) assess the range of these technologies in the context of how they may be applied on the outer continental (OCS) shelf within US territorial limits.
