German-Dutch grid operator TenneT has awarded contracts for the 900MW DolWin6 offshore grid link in the German North Sea to a consortium led by Siemens for converter stations at sea and on land, and to French supplier Nexans for the cabling element, leading to a significant fall in costs.

“We see a continuous cost reduction at our offshore grid links from projects still under construction such as DolWin3 to BorWin3 and now to DolWin6,” says Lex Hartman, a member of TenneT’s managing team.
