The legislature in California has taken a key step toward approval of a bill this session that both sets a 2045 goal for conversion of the state’s electric grid to 100% renewable energy, and accelerates and expands existing mandates.

The Assembly’s Utilities and Energy Committee passed Senate Bill (SB) 100 on Wednesday, all but ensuring that majority Democrats who support it will schedule a floor vote by the full lower house before adjournment 15 September.
