Amid renewed calls for a major role for offshore wind in Sweden’s future energy mix, developer Svea Vind Offshore claimed it can deliver competitive power at below €50/MWh ($56.90/MWh) from up to 6GW off its east coast regardless of future government support.

Svea co-founder Mattias Wärn said the company hopes to start work on the first of six projects as soon as 2021, by when he reckons offshore turbines in the 10MW-plus range will be driving costs down sharply across Europe.
