Italian group Enel has started construction of the 154MW Kafireas wind farm in southern Greece.

Once completed, the project, located on the Evia island, in the municipality of Karistos, will be the country’s largest wind farm. Enel will be investing a total of approximately €300m ($341m) in the construction of the new facility, it said.

“The start of construction of Kafireas marks a new step for Enel’s presence in Greece, where we have a decade-long experience in the renewables sector”, said Antonio Cammisecra, head of Enel.
