Brazilian renewable energy company CPFL Renováveis has started commercial operations of the 48MW Pedra Cheirosa, its last wind complex under construction in Brazil’s dwindling portfolio of contracted projects.

CPFL Renováveis now has a total installed renewable capacity of 2.1GW, of which 1.3GW is wind, making it Brazil’s largest private non-large-hydro renewable energy company in terms of operational installed capacity.

With only one 26MW hydro plant under construction and no renewable energy tenders since 2015, the company’s projected investments are due to decline drastically to about R$120m ($37m) in 2018 from R$726m in 2017.
