New Mexico regulators have deferred until December an initial hearing on Xcel Energy’s request for approval of its proposed 522MW Sagamore wind project, which could also confirm a major win for turbine supplier Vestas.

The Public Regulation Commission also extended the deadline for consent until 21 March 2018, still enough time for Xcel to bring what would be the largest single-stage wind farm in the US Desert Southwest into commercial operation in 2020.
