Massachusetts has sped up its timeline for striking deals with offshore wind developers, amid concerns that the fledgling US offshore wind market will miss out on the benefits of the fading federal wind tax credits.
Responding to requests from offshore wind companies, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities has directed the state’s utilities to select winning bidders for negotiations by next spring and execute off-take contracts by July of next year – tightening the previous schedule by three months.
