Offshore wind turbines rated up to 12MW will appear “within the next couple of years” as OEMs accelerate product development cycles to drive down cost-of-energy, said consulting group MAKE.
R&D for 10MW-plus turbines is “in full swing” at major manufacturers as they plan machines with rotors spanning more than 200-metres for future offshore projects, the consulting specialist said in a research note.
