Classification body Bureau Veritas (BV) has given its seal of approval to the DCNS Energies floating wind turbine concept, clearing the way for its use on the 25MW Groix & Belle Île pilot project in the French Atlantic.
BV has given a preliminary design approval (PDA) to the concrete-steel hybrid semisubmersible design, being topped with GE 6MW Haliade turbines at the Eolfi/China General Nuclear site, with expectations the array will be online in 2020.
