Lack of grid connection means it could be 2018 before power starts flowing from Kenya’s 310MW Lake Turkana wind farm – Africa’s largest – despite its ahead-of-schedule completion by Vestas, it has emerged.

The flagship project’s last turbine was installed two months early in March by the Danish OEM, which also acted as lead contractor for the wind farm – but not the 428km transmission link due to move its power to Kenya’s national grid.
