A yearly pipeline of around 1GW of installation for several years would be required to build an offshore wind nacelle plant in non-European markets such as the US, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy CEO Markus Tacke tells Recharge.
Already having an established manufacturing base with onshore nacelle and blade production in the US, his company wouldn’t need to start from scratch as it could begin from an existing footprint, Tacke says.
