GE Renewable Energy has inked a $13m cybersecurity deal with US independent Invenergy to protect the developers entire fleet of turbines, as well as a framework agreement to add future wind farms to the network.

The contract, thought to be one of the largest cybersecurity deals in the history of the Industrial Internet, will see GE subsidiary Wurldtech handling upgrades to Invenergy’s legacy controls with its Opshield industrial and process control security technnology and providing software maintenance, updates, and patches for the duration of the agreement’s ten-year term.
